Everything below is drawn from Rockstar's two trailers, official screenshots, and Rockstar Newswire posts. Regions are grouped by what's confirmed versus what's reasonable to expect based on GTA 5 and Rockstar's design patterns. Images below are official screenshots from Rockstar Games' GTA VI media page.

Vice City

Vice City in GTA 6

Vice City is Leonida's centrepiece and, according to Rockstar, the most detailed city the studio has built. It's a modern-day, Miami-inspired metropolis rather than a period piece.

  • Art Deco beachfront districts reminiscent of South Beach.
  • Neon-lit nightlife strips and dense downtown skyscrapers.
  • Waterfront luxury developments and marinas.
  • Multiple distinct neighbourhoods shown across both trailers, suggesting a level of internal variety beyond GTA 5's Los Santos.

For how this compares to the original 1986 Vice City and to GTA 5's Los Santos, see the setting breakdown on this site.

Leonida Keys

Leonida Keys in GTA 6

At the southern tip of the state, the Leonida Keys are a chain of small islands connected by long highway bridges over turquoise water, directly evoking the real Florida Keys.

  • Confirmed as a distinct explorable region in trailer footage.
  • Jason's backstory ties directly to this area — he worked for drug runners in the Keys before the story begins (see the character guide, jason-and-lucia-character-guide).
  • Expect boat-heavy traversal given the water-to-land ratio shown on screen.

Grassrivers

Grassrivers in GTA 6

Grassrivers is Rockstar's version of the Everglades: a vast subtropical wetland of swamps, marshes, cypress forests, and slow-moving rivers.

  • Confirmed as home to hunting, fishing, and wildlife encounters, including alligators.
  • Expect airboats or similar swamp-specific vehicles, based on GTA 5's approach to terrain-specific transport (unconfirmed for GTA 6 specifically, but consistent with the environment shown).
  • Underwater exploration is confirmed as a broader game feature and fits naturally with this region's waterways.

Mount Kalaga (National Park)

Mount Kalaga National Park in GTA 6

Mount Kalaga National Park sits in the north of Leonida and is the state's elevated, forested wilderness area.

  • Features lakes, rivers, and mountain terrain.
  • Rockstar's trailer footage shows dangerous wildlife here, drawing comparisons to Red Dead Redemption 2's Ambarino region.
  • The closest thing GTA 6 has to a "nature survival" zone within an otherwise urban/coastal map.

Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn in GTA 6

Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia were the two most recently confirmed location names, revealed via Rockstar's official screenshot releases.

  • Reads as a working Gulf-coast port town, with industrial docks and blue-collar architecture.
  • Positioned as a contrast to Vice City's glamour, similar to how GTA 5 balanced Los Santos against Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay.

Ambrosia

Ambrosia in GTA 6

Located beside Lake Leonida, Ambrosia is confirmed as the state's agricultural and industrial heartland.

  • The Allied Crystal sugar refinery dominates the local economy in trailer footage, a nod to Florida's real sugar industry.
  • Surrounded by highways, farmland, railroads, and factories.
  • Likely to play a role in mid-to-late story missions given the industrial imagery Rockstar chose to highlight.

What's still unconfirmed

Rockstar has not published a full official map or a definitive location count. Fan-made interactive maps exist, but names and boundaries beyond the six regions above should be treated as community estimation rather than confirmed fact. Any specific street names, exact interior counts, or precise square-mileage figures you see elsewhere are not officially confirmed as of July 2026.

How the map compares to previous GTA titles

  • Roughly 1.5–2x GTA 5's map size by community estimate (Rockstar hasn't given an official number).
  • Combines a single dense city (like Los Santos) with far more wilderness and wetland variety than GTA 5's desert-and-mountain approach.
  • For a full features rundown including traversal and vehicle changes, see the features guide on this site.
  • For vehicle types suited to each region (boats, off-road trucks, etc.), see the vehicles article.
