Overview
The vast, untamed wetlands of Leonida — inspired by Florida's Everglades — represent GTA 6's most dramatic departure from traditional urban open-world design. Known in-game as the Grassrivers, this region features dense mangrove forests, murky alligator-infested waterways, isolated trailer park communities, and hidden drug lab operations deep in the swamp. Navigation requires airboats, fan-propelled vehicles, or careful wading through shallow waters.

🏆 Collectibles & 100% Completion
18 of the 30 Everglades Stashes are located deep in the swamplands, requiring airboat access and sometimes nighttime-only visibility. 5 rare wildlife photography collectibles can only be captured here.
Law Enforcement & Wanted Levels
Minimal to zero police presence. The Everglades operate as a lawless frontier. However, wildlife dangers (alligators, snakes) and hostile NPC moonshiners replace police as environmental threats. At extreme wanted levels (5 stars), military helicopters will pursue even into the swamps.
📖 Region Lore & Story Connections
The Grassrivers are where Leonida's darkest secrets hide. Multiple missing persons cases, abandoned cult compounds, and Cold War-era bunkers are scattered throughout the wetlands. Lucia's backstory includes childhood connections to the Everglades communities, and several emotional story beats occur in the isolated trailer parks at the region's edges.
